BREAST AUGMENTATION (BREAST IMPLANTS)

Currently, breast augmentation is one of the most popular plastic surgeries in the world. Most women decide to undergo this surgery because of the greater desire to be more attractive, become more confident in themselves or follow the fashion trends of the ideal body. It is recognized that the main indications for breast surgery should be the real concerns of women. Often it is acquired or congenital changes in breast shape due to asymmetry, hypoplasia and aplasia, age-related changes, after feeding the baby, rapid weight loss and other factors in a woman’s life.

Breast augmentation (breast implants, mammoplasty) allows to put the breast into a natural, beautiful shape, to return women self-confidence and attractiveness, to improve quality of life. Breast contour is determined by the shape of the chest, the degree of muscle development and shape of the muscles, thickness of the fat layer just beneath the skin and in the breast itself, state of the chest support ligament apparatus, and finally, the properties of the skin, which vary according to weight fluctuations, taking hormones, sun exposure etc. After pregnancy and sudden changes in weight supporting ligaments are stretched and become thinner. Patients who decided to take a breast augmentation are often marked by its omission (ptosis). Furthermore, in a breast of a 37-40 year old woman dense tissue predominates over the fat and the amount of fat, and amount of fat increases with age thus making breasts softer.

Mammoplasty is performed only after consulting with a plastic surgeon and requires some preparation which takes 1-3 days. The patient at this time must pass examination appointed by the surgeon: blood tests to get the overall picture of the health status, perform a breast ultrasound and ECG.

Breast augmentation surgery involves the installation of silicone implants in the breasts. The surgical procedure is performed under general anesthesia and lasts about two hours. Silicone implants may be round or teardrop (anatomical) shape, different textures and sizes.

Surgeon gets an access to the breast cavity by making an incision which is made in the area of infra-mammary fold, areola or armpit. The location of the implant is determined individually and depends on the anatomical features of the patient.

The before and after mammoplasty photos show a striking contrast. Breast with implants has excellent form both at rest and when changing body positions. When the implant is well-matched in size and shape, and the operation was technically correct, it is almost impossible to determine the presence of breast implants and its «unnaturalness» if you aren’t an expert.

After surgery special pressure bandages are used to fix the adjusted breast, and the occurring pains can be eliminated with analgesic drugs prescribed at the clinic. On the 7-10th day the stitches are removed. Of course, by this time the scar is still quite dense, having a red color. But over time, it will turn into a flesh-colored almost invisible line.

About a month the patient will need to wear a compression garment (special bra). Your body will stop sensing the implant as a foreign object in just a few weeks after the surgery, so it is necessary to limit physical activity during this period. Changing the shape of the breast will be noticeable immediately after the operation. Nevertheless, woman can become fully convinced of the effectiveness of breast augmentation procedure in about 4-6 weeks. During this time the swelling will come down, and the body will form a capsule of fibrous tissue around the implants.

A qualified plastic surgeon at the LaserOne Clinic will help you to choose the right type of implant, according to the individual characteristics and needs. During a free consultation at our medical center specialists will answer all your questions and offer optimal solutions.
